Dogs in the Classroom

Today is my last day of Spring Break. I needed to run to school to grab a book to do some work to prepare for the coming week. Since I also needed to run to Petsmart, I decided to take the Girls with me.

So, off we went and when we arrived, I took them into my classroom. Believe me, I didn't take too many pictures of my classroom as it is in a "temporary building" which is close to collapsing and mold infested.

When the Girls got inside, they immediately started chasing each other around the room with Mimi woofing the whole time.

Once they had their game of tag, they settled down for a couple of pictures.

Mimi goes for the "Seat of Power" at my teacher desk. Actually, she can have it!!! LOL!!!

Molly decides to hang out by the door

"Mom, we're ready to go to Petsmart now!"

Fun Dog Show in Cambridge, MD

"Hehehehe, I won 3rd place for the best Senior Dog!"

Each year I take the Girls to the Fun Dog Show to raise money for the Dorchester Humane Society. The event is put on by Christ Church and they had their work cut out for them this year! Attendance was very good considering that it was held inside and that it was a beautiful day outside.

Fun Dog Shows are wonderful because mutts and purebreds can enter. There are different categories such as Cutest Dog, Dog Who Likes the Judges Best, Best Pair, Best Senior Dog, and Best Heinz 57.

Poor Molly didn't win anything, but she got tons of pets and belly rubs from the kids. She'd rather have that than a trophy any day!

I have to give a big shout out to Mr. Phil of Christ Church who served as Mr. Clean Up Guy. There were lots of accidents for some reason and that wonderful man scooped up and mopped up without a complaint. Thank you!!!

There were very few words with the pups who attended the event, but for some reason, an older female black Greyhound didn't take a liking to Mimi and cussed her out! Maybe the dog was jealous of Mimi's win. Or, maybe because Mimi's collar was prettier than her own.

Here's another pic of Mimi's win. After her name was announced, she just lit up like a Christmas tree! She smiled and gave some woos and woofs for the crowd! They gave her plenty of applause and she just ate it up!

I hope the humane society did well with this fundraiser. The one thing that really bothered me was that Christ Church raised prices significantly for entering dogs into different classes. I was nearly double charged as well. I realize that this all goes to a very worthy cause and that the Dorchester Humane Society truly needs all of the financial help it can get, as it operates in a county that doesn't have a whole lot of money. I hope they will rethink this policy for next year.

There were a couple of Bichon Frises at the Show that were barking nonstop! The Girls (and I) got very annoyed with this and left early. It was ok though, because they were pretty pooped out by this time.

Until next year!
