Stroll down Lover's Lane

Yes, we've got some double sniffing action going down on Lover's Lane. Usually Mimi wins the double sniff competition by shoving Molly's nose out of the way with her long snout.

Molly found a smooshed frog on the road to take a sniff at. This was pretty darn exciting for her!


















Mimi found some lovely grass to sniff and snack on. Thank goodness she didn't go for the wild onions that are in bloom!

This property has a lot of mystery surrounding it. Now it is a boatyard for boats that need repairing. I've heard that the property was once used for processing tomatoes. There are several large farm fields nearby.

I've heard that this was once a house that sheltered slaves that worked on the farm. The Maryland Eastern Shore had large numbers of slaves that worked the farms and on the water. That will be a topic of a future blog entry.

Here is part of the woods that surrounds the property. Hopefully it will rain soon and clear out the creek.

It's March Madness and unlike most women I know, I love it! The reason for this is I've always been a fan of the Big 10. I went to school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and spent many Saturdays cheering my Badgers on by singing, dancing, and generally being obnoxious.

The East Coast has little respect for the Big 10. However, believe it or not, there have been many East Coast types who attended the UW because the out-of-state tuition was cheaper than their in-state tuition. Weird, huh?

I really struggled to get decent grades at the UW. It's a tough school academically. What I loved most about it was that with 45,000 other students, I had the world at my feet. I have a lot of pride for my school!

My co-workers teased me that Wisconsin wouldn't make it out of the 1st round in the tournament. I've been singing the "I told you so" song all day!

I ran into a very interesting website today about the R word. Here in Maryland, special education students who have a significantly below average IQ and low adaptive skills are labeled as Mentally Retarded. When I first moved to Maryland, I physically cringed every time I heard this. In Wisconsin, these students were called Cognitively Disabled, which I think is so much kinder for these students who have a very difficult time as it is. I hope Maryland will consider making this change.



Mimi has been very snuggly and affectionate today. She's 13ish and even though she's in wonderful shape for her age, she is showing some arthritis on her rear left leg. She can still jump up on my high bed, but it takes more energy. She's also running in shorter sprints when I take her to a dog park. She does the funniest moans and groans to get attention! Poor girl!

Molly is the same almost every day. Loving, sweet, gentle, and mellow. I love my mellow yellow girl! She demands so little, in contrast to her sister. She's the one who will greet me with jumps and kisses when I come home from work to let her out of her crate. She's 8ish and hasn't slowed down any.
